Dixie was married at a very young age and enjoyed being a stay at home mom. She and her husband Marcus of 50 years had five children, four daughters and a son. Being a stay at home mom and raising five children on one income, she had to come up with creative ways to save money. She taught herself how to cook and sew and all of the things that came with being a homemaker. She made most of her children’s clothes from coats to undergarments and made her husband’s shirts. Once she made all of the family members’ identical western shirts to have a family portrait taken.

After the children grew up and left home she needed something to keep her busy; she opened a gift shop where she sold quilts and other items handmade by her.

In 1996 she and her husband sold the home where they raised their children and moved to the country. Later her father passed away and her mother came to live with them. Her mom needed 24 hour care and Dixie needed something to do while caring for her; she began piecing quilts but there was the problem of getting them quilted. In 2006 she purchased a Gammill Longarm with the Statler stitcher and began her journey of fulfilling her passion for quilting.

Dixie loves quilting and thoroughly enjoys and loves all of the people that she meets through her quilting business. Dixie also takes time to share her knowledge with ladies, young and old, in the community and teaches them how to sew a variety of projects. She also teaches her grandchildren, some of whom have made their own quilts and won prizes in the community fair.

Dixie enjoys her country living with her husband in the home her husband built. His passion are collecting and restoring antique tractors, turkey hunting and spoiling their grandchildren.

Although their children are grown they still take care in finding ways to save money by continuing to plant a large garden every year and raising laying hens and turkeys.

Dixie is an amazing woman with remarkable skills and a true, deep passion for what she does. Dixie takes pride in her workmanship, taking extra special care of your quilt in her nonsmoking home.  Using her Gammill and Statler Stitcher longarm machine, she offers a fast turnaround with allover quilting designs (pantograph patterns) quilts usually completed in three to four weeks.
